October 1- 31, 2024: Are there ghosts in Sarasota? Find out for yourself on a guided, dark and creepy, 75-minute Sarasota ghost walk. Experience the spirited and sinister side of Sarasota on this one-of-a-kind walking tour to learn more about the area and some of the residents who still call it home – many, many, many years later. October 1 - 31, 2024. Check out the Spooktacular Ghost Tour. If you’re looking for something truly unique, take the Haunted History Tour. This 75 minute tour is packed with history and ghost stories. We’ll also share ghost hunting tips and tricks. Hear live audio of a disembodied voice in a local Venice building. You’ll even have an opportunity to catch your own ghost by using real paranormal investigation tools. You'll leave wanting to find your own local haunts. $20 per person. October 5 - 6, 2024: The 36th Annual Fruitville Grove Pumpkin Fest features hay rides, pony rides, pumpkin painting, face painting, mini train rides, a petting zoo and more. Lots of Halloween decorations for sale, too, from scarecrows to hay bales. Admission, Parking, Petting zoo, playground, live music, and decorated photo spots are FREE! Individual rides and game activity booth, including pony rides, unicorn encounter, hug a goat and pumpkin painting, has their own set price ranging from $1 – $10. Children’s Costume Contest every Saturday at 2 p.m. in front of the animal barn and free to participate in. Torres Family Circus and Extreme Riders Free daily showtimes each weekend 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. While some vendor booths may accept cards, many are cash only so please be prepared. October 9 - 31, 2024: You're invited “Lights at Spooky Point,” which features an array of fantastic creatures and cute creations designed with lights along an eerily lit path through the woods at the preserve and outdoor museum of Historic Spanish Point. Visitors also will see familiar historic sites like Mary’s Chapel and the Pioneer Graveyard in a mysterious (but not too scary) new light during this event for all ages. There will be a one-way path from the Welcome Center Gazebo through several popular areas on the Historic Spanish Point bathed in the glow of orange, purple, and red lights. Along the way, guests will encounter flying “ghost orchids,” webs with “spider orchids,” giant “bat orchids,” vine-twisted skeletons, plenty of pumpkins, and other surprises. This nighttime walk through the woods will finish at a hay maze before guests return to the gazebo to exit. Early Entry 6:30 p.m. | General Admission 7:45 p.m. | Event ends at 9 p.m. Nonmember tickets go on sale Sept. 3, and members tickets go on sale August 28. A limited number of tickets will be available for each entry time and must be purchased in advance, either through the Selby Gardens website or at the Welcome Center on either campus. October 11, 2024: Moved to October 25, 2024. The 22nd annual Goblin Gathering is an event hosted by Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources and held at GT Bray Park. This spooktacular outdoor event is family friendly and fun for all ages! Local businesses will be passing out “treats & sweets” to participants, providing a safe alternative for families to trick-or-treat. This year’s gathering will also feature free access to bounce houses, face painting, costume contests, a petting zoo and magic. Costume contest sign up begins after 5 PM (judging begins at 7:30 PM). Food trucks will be on site to offer a BITE. Costume Contest: 1 year and under,  2 to 4 years old, 5 to 8 years old, 9 and older, Families. Three winners will be chosen for each category. October 11, 2024: It's Witches Night Out! Join SRQ County Parks for a positively enchanting evening! Guests (witches and wizards) will enjoy music, dancing, shopping, food, and drinks. Dress in your favorite witch or wizard attire or you can dress as a muggle. Their “Witches Mart” features amazing local vendors, and you can even have fun with tarot card and intuitive readers, for entertainment purposes only of course! Gather your favorite witches and wizards for free photos at the spooktacular photo booth and capture some great memories! Hang out for an enchanting “Witches Dance” by talented local artists. To quench your thirst, delightfully wicked potions, including non-alcoholic beverages, will be available for purchase. Your $35 advance reservation includes:• Swag bag • Live DJ • Photo booth pictures • Tasty morsels • Costume contest entry. This is an event for adults 18 and older. Advance registration required. October 12, 2024: Manatee Village Historical Park is hosting Cemetery Tours,” a free hour-long tour of the 1850 Manatee Burying Grounds led by a member of Manatee Village's staff. Tours cover different facets of life during Manatee's Founding Period (1840-1918) as well as stories of those buried in the burying grounds. Topics vary depending on the staff member leading the tour. Space is limited and filled on a first come, first served basis. All members of your party must be present to receive a wristband. There will be FOUR (4) opportunities to experience a staff-guided tour of the 1850 Manatee Burying Ground. There will be two (2) tours on Saturdays, October 12 and October 26, at 9:30am and 10:30am. October 17, 2024: It's the Manatee County Sheriff's Office Sheriff's Spooktactical Night! It's a Spooktactical evening of family fun at the Manatee County Sheriff's Office Operations Center! MCSO Units and community partners will have vehicles on display, demonstrations, activities for kids, free food, and trick or treating at each unit's station. Food truck options available with a cost. 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Manatee County Sheriff's Office, 600 Highway 301 Boulevard West, Bradenton FL. (Parking will be available at the former Desoto Square Mall across from the Operations Center on 301 Blvd. W.)

October 18 2024: Canceled for 2024 due to the hurricanes. It's the Arlington Park and Aquatic Complex Annual Haunted Trail Carnival. Bring your little ghouls and goblins for a fun-filled evening of games, trick-or-treating, and spooky surprises along our half-mile walking trail. This free event is perfect for children of all ages, with interactive activities designed especially for kids aged 12 and under. October 18 - 19, 2024: It's the 11th Annual Halloween Haunted Trails at Oscar Scherer State Park. SCARY TRAI: If you dare, join us on this night time adventure along the darkened wooded roadway on your way to the Haunted House. You never know what frightening figures you might encounter and if you're lucky, you might just make it out alive. Warning: Scary Trail is not suitable for young children or the faint at heart. KID'S TRICK OR TREAT TRAIL: For younger Halloween enthusiasts, there's a fun trick or treat trail around Lake Osprey. The trick or treat trail features booths, activities and interactive games, and of course, candy! Don't miss the glow in the dark "Little Monster Manor" Fun House and more! HAUNTED HOUSE: Want to take your scare to the next level? Check out the infamous Haunted House sponsored by the Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department. Frightfully good fun, if you dare! October 18 - 20, 2024:  Halloween Notte presents Toyland Terror in Port Charlotte: In a dimly lit, sprawling mansion stands the Haunted House Toy Land, where forgotten play things from eras past come to life in eerie splendor. Several attractions are available: Haunted Toyland, the Haunted Hayride, and the live entertainment show. Come play in the Haunted Toyland Haunted House or journey  through the woods on the Haunted Hayride. You never know what's hiding in the trees. Ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult (17 years and older). Various ticket options and prices. October 19, 2024: Calling all goblins and ghouls! Dress in your favorite costume* and follow the Trick-or-Treat Trail at the Mall at UTC, scaring up goodies from your favorite stores along the way! The wicked-good time will also include: Fangtastic Character Meet & Greets, A Spooktacular Dance Party, Howl-oween Bounce Houses, Eerie-sistable Games, Crafts & More! No toy weapons permitted. Trick-or-Treating will take place mall-wide; other activities will be held in Grand Court and outside the main east entrance (by Kona Grill & Urban Outfitters). October 19, 2024: Bring the whole family to Ed Smith Stadium for a Spooktacular Halloween-themed movie shown on the outfield video board. Bring your blanket to watch from the stadium seating. Join them before the movie for games throughout the stadium. Concessions available. Coolers are not permitted. Admission is FREE donations of non-perishable food will be accepted. Open to all ages. October 24, 2024: It's the Bark-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest held in the Arlington Park Paw Park. Get ready for a howling good time at the Arlington Paw Park’s annual Bark-O-Ween! Dress up your pup and participate in the judged costume parade for a chance to win fun, dog-friendly prizes. Whether your dog is spooky, cute, or creative, this event is sure to be a tail-wagging success. Don't forget to register in advance for this paw-some celebration! October 24, 2024: Celebrate Halloween with State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Bradenton at “Trunk or Treat.” This kid-friendly activity will feature free candy, decorated vehicles and music.  Kids of all ages and their families are welcome to attend this free event featuring a costume contest, decorated vehicles, DJ music, food truck purchases, kid-friendly activities, treats and candy. Register online at SCF.edu/TrunkorTreat. October 24 - 26, 2024: The Players Centre for Performing Arts is proud to present the 8th annual Legend of Sleepy Hollow at The Sarasota Polo Club. This family-friendly, spooky, festive play about Ichabod Crane, the object of his affection Katrina, his rival Brom Bones, and of course, one of the most famous ghosts in America, the Headless Horseman has become a Halloween Favorite in Sarasota. Sleepy Hollow is known for its many ghost stories and the towns people that love to tell them, but the most prominent specter haunting the region is The Headless Horseman. Each night there will be a costume contest! *Please bring your own chairs and/or blankets, this is an outdoor event. that starts promptly at 6 p.m. Adult-$25, Kid-$20 with a bracelet, Kids-$10 without a bracelet. Get ready for a day of thrills and chills at the Payne Park Tennis Center! Sign up your team for our exciting Triples Tournament, open to all skill levels. October 25, 2024: Check out Boo! at The Bay - Family Halloween Celebration. Join in the fun of this Third Annual Halloween Family- and Fan-Favorite event which includes a not-so-scary evening filled with trick-or-treating, free pumpkin pickings, yard games, a not-really haunted decorated trail, a movie showing of Despicable Me 4, and more! Costumes are encouraged (not required) for this not-so-spooky special event. Pumpkins are available on a first-come, first-served basis to the first 1,500 kids. October 25, 2024: It's the annual BooFest at Lakewood Ranch Main Street! It's family-friendly fun including entertainment, food and drink vendors, and more. Have your children bring their trick-or-treat bags to collect the many treats that will be given out from their generous sponsors and merchants. October 25, 2024: Check out Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics. Candlelight concerts bring the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience to awe-inspiring locations like never seen before in Sarasota. Get your tickets now to discover Halloween-inspired music at Sarasota Municipal Auditorium under the gentle glow of candlelight. October 26, 2024: The 21st Annual Boo Run is a family oriented 5K run or walk. There is also a Virtual 5K Run or Walk. Exciting changes this year with a brand new certified 5k course in Lakewood Ranch! In-Person Option - Saturday, October 26th - 5k run or walk with pups at 8:10 a.m. 5k run or walk with Humans starts at 8:00 a.m. Kids' Boo Dash starts at 7:30 a.m. Your race entry includes a chip-timed 5k, bib, finisher medal, and race shirt. October 26, 2024: It’s time to break out your best decorations and costumes for the 1st Annual Ghoulfest Poker Run! This exciting event supports SRQ VETS and its mission to help our local veterans in their time of need. Each location will have 2 games of skill/luck that participators will be able to try for $1 a chance. The proceeds will also go to SRQVETS. There will be prizes for BEST ADULT COSTUME, BEST UNDER 18 COSTUME, BEST HAND, WORST HAND, and BEST DECORATED VEHICLE. All normal poker rules will apply to the hands turned in. All proceeds support local veterans in Desoto, Manatee, and Sarasota Counties. October 26, 2024:The Annual Sarasota Dog-A-Ween costume contest returns to the Sarasota Farmers Market Halloween Festival. Goblins and ghoulies, candy corn and cornstalks, doggie costume contests and parades: It’s time for dogs to get a scary groove on and don the Halloween garb. The Annual Dog-A-Ween costume contest returns to the Sarasota Farmers Market Halloween Festival. Put on your costumes and join in for a magical scavenger hunt and find your own dragon eggs with treasure and candy inside! The hunt begins at 10:15 a.m. sharp! How quickly can you find the dragon's eggs? As a special treat, we will be handing out ice cream at the garden starting at 11am! October 27 - 31, 2024: Prepare for a spine-chilling adventure at the 3rd Annual Haunted Fish Camp at Jiggs Landing! This year, the historic fish camp transforms into a haunted haven for five frightful nights. Haunted Fish Camp: Embark on a self-guided tour through the eerie grounds, where the ghost of Captain Fish Hook, a pirate lost for centuries, roams. Legend has it that his crew abandoned him in near Tampa Bay, and later he met his end at the hands of an evil fisherman at Jiggs Landing. Graveyard Walk: Stroll through the haunted walkway and encounter the graveyard of former residents. Beware, as the ghost of Jiggs himself is known to make an appearance every Halloween! Spooky Pavilion: Watch out for other scary creatures lurking in the pavilion and along the raised walkway. Don your spookiest, silliest, or most star-studded costumes and prepare for an evening of trick-or-treating along their candy trail.
